GBD Pipes & BBB Pipes

Are they any good? I Know somebody likes them because I see them on Ebay start at .99 and so go up to as much as $86.00. I look at them and don't see anything that special about them. I was just wondering, are they that good?

I don't know anything about the modern stuff coming out but I can tell ya the older GBD's are top notch stuff.. A man with a handful of older GBD's is well heeled.

I only have 2 cobs small don't even know what they are called, they are MM though.
1 Ventura Stanwell to me it is fancy and I really want to take care of it.
1 Tinsky I got from Ebay but it is so beautiful I'm Reluctant to smoke it until I learn how to not get the bowl hot.
1 B C apple bent stem heavy devil thang.
So i guess you can tell I need something I can let the cobs and the B C get some rest. I do smoke the Stanwell but only on Monday and Thursday, I smoked it today so I can't smoke it tommorrow.

I guess as Sherlock would say the game is afoot. {bidding on a nice looking GBD or BBB} If it dose not get to out of hand that is way under the 86.00 I saw one go for yesterday

GBD's usually go a bit cheaper than that, I'd be reluctant to pay more than $50 for one unless I really knew the age of it....

If you're satisfied with the Stanwell you may possible want to pick some more of those up... They can usually be found for $25-50 (unless they are somehow special like year pipes or whatnot).. Peterson is another good bet that travels in the same price range.

Good idea on the Peterson or Stanwell. I do Love my Stanwell. I usually get outbid on
Peterson or Stanwell and forget not getting outbid on a Savenelli.

I have a BBB that's no younger than 80 years old... it was a low-end pipe when it was made, but it's still a great smoker. But like PB says, strike when the price is right. (I had to bite my lip to keep from smiling when the shopkeeper said it was $12 if I paid cash.)

I bid on 2 today both GBD, and got over bid both times. I followed puros_bran advise to stay under $50.00. so when they went over that I said OK they are worth more to them than me.
I'll just save my money, then beg Sasquatch to make me one of his, then I will have some idea what I'm getting!!!

Man that one he put up today sure was beautiful. I think I would rather have one of those than three somebody else has already used up kinda.

Doc Manhattan seems to love Sasquatch work. I would have to drive a hundred miles to get to a B and M Doc and my luck probably would not be as good as yours.

GBD's espeically perspex stemed (clear acrylic) prehistorics are great old pipes. They're easily maintained with no buffing necessary and I've never met one yet that wasn't a great smoker. It really surprises me that more folks don't collect old GBD's. They're one of the last bargins in ye'olde English wood...

Should be a link to the pipe you won. It looks like a nice one, but you might want to have some one clean it up a bit for you at some point. Doesn't appear to be an immediate need though.

I can't tell how old it is off hand but you should be able to research a bit with the silver band and decently visible nomenclature.

I have an old BBB bulldog (1920's I think) that is an awesome smoker. Nothing like 80-90 years of history on a pipe to give it some character.

For what you have in it you could send it off to LL and get a full refurb on it for cheaper than what a brand new pipe would cost... either way I'd say that wasnt a bad price.

I did some research on LL and Precision. I would love to do it. But hey this old country boy aint't even in the same category as His clientele.

Doesnt' matter if it is a Dunhill or a Dr Grabow. If the pipe is worth it to you to have it done then it is worth it to have it done to the pipe...or something like that.
