I'm looking at a GG pipe on eBay (buy it now) at a fair price.

I've heard some good things about these pipes and I wonder whether any of the brothers can confirm this?

I thank you !

Good friend and BoB member has bought a number of them. Says they are great smokers.

I bought a bulldog and I'm anxiously awaiting it's arrival. I hope mine will perform as well as AJ's two.

I see you are trying to beat the new year so you can stick to your goal of no new pipes next year  :lol!:

Not knowing much about this brand and always wondering because the prices were always so affordable I did a little research and found that they've been in business for quite some time and seem to make a quality briar pipe including some made in the traditional fruit woods. Here's just a bit of what I found:

During the Soviet times the "Veresk"1 Company (or Cooperative) was the only pipe manufacture in USSR. They used to manufacture pipes in cherry, pear, peach, apricot and other fruit woods. In the early 1990's with the political changes, the corporate focused on briar pipes importing burls from Toscany (IT). But the production of pipes made from fruit tree varieties is still going on (2012).

The Golden Gate pipe factory in Kiev was the place Konstantin Shekita made his first steps in pipemaking.

You are 100% correct, sir!

Received my pipe at last, was shipped on the 21st of December already. It's one beautiful pipe, perfect in every way but.......I must still smoke it! It's a 304 bulldog. Got rid of the bowl coating which was quite easy.

Now I'm acting like Ron, will keep the pipe for it's looks without smoking it. That will of course only last until later today.
