My name's Jake, and I refurbish, repair, and resell briars in Minneapolis (and around the world via Etsy).
I've been smoking for about eight years now, and refurbishing pipes for about six of those years.
I love Balkan, English, and dark tobaccos in general, especially flakes. I'm always up for new ideas of where to find a good dark flake, since Penzance became so hard to come by.
I've refurbished perhaps 300 or 400 pipes by now, but there are still a few tricks left for me to master - I'm definitely interested in talking to anyone who is good at refitting meerschaum stems, or patching holes in original vulcanite stems, for example.
I hope to fully peruse the forums soon, but until then, happy smoking all!
