Hi all,
The name's Phil, and I've been smoking a pipe for around 3 years, ever since the tender age of 17. When I was a lad growing up in Germany, 16 was the legal smoking age. I've since moved to Canada for university.
I started out with a Dr. Grabow and a Capri basket pipe smoking Borkum Riff and Captain Black until I discovered how much more the world of pipe smoking had to offer me, and since then I've always desired to expand my knowledge and enjoyment further. Brothers of Briar seemed like a good place to come to learn a lot and a be part of a great community of pipe smokers.
I enjoy many varieties of pipes and tobaccos. I mainly favour a good English or Balkan, but I love a great Virginia flake or nice Burley, along with a very occasional aromatic. I try to dedicate each of my pipes one specific blend, so I have about 20-odd pipes - mainly from the classic English factory pipemakers, though I'd love to branch out into Danish, Italian, and American artisanal pipes if my wallet could handle it. I specifically collect pre-merger GBDs on the nicer end of the spectrum and gourd calabashes, when I can find them. My favourite blenders are McClelland, Cornell & Diehl, and the venerable G.L. Pease.
Glad to be with all you fine people,
Phil
