Hello brothers, and sisters if they're in here :)
My name is Nicholas Burnsworth, I'm 32 years old and live in Ohio, USA
I have always been involved in the arts, everything from drawing, painting, sculpting, playing guitar for the last 22 years, a stone carver for 16 years, a tool and die maker for several years, and recently in the last year began making stone and briar pipes hence the name Boulder&Briar. I first smoked a pipe when I was 12 basically just messing around. I was at that point a beginner smoker and vered into the suicidal path of the Marlboro man. I smoke cigarettes for 20 years until I realized I needed to make a change. I have stopped smoking cigarettes since April 20th 2012 and have no desire to return. I do how ever and have taken on a great appreciation for fine pipes and the tobacco that fills them. I enjoy a pipe 2-3 times a week, along with some of the other finer things in life such as a glass of wine, a sip of good whiskey, or even a good ale with a first class five star home cooked meal. After all that is what pipe smoking is all about right? Reflecting upon or enjoying the finer things we can be ever so fortunate and most greatful for. At least for me it is. I also enjoy the great outdoors, hunting, fishing, hiking, sight seeing. I've been called an old soul many times and I think it's just because I've held onto and appreciate the values I was raised with, have a great appreciation for the hardwork, and hard times our ancestors endured to give us the freedom we have today. Though i do enjoy the technologies of today, I like old things, the engineering behind them and the progression that brings us to today.
Well hopefully I haven't bored you all, sorry for the novel :)
And I will post some pics of my pipes and wether or not they are for sale. Hope you'll enjoy!

Welcome to BoB, enjoy your time here. Any questions you might have can easily be answered with just a little time searching the site. I look forward to seeing your collection and to future posts of PAD and TAD.

Welcome aboard, Nicholas. Thanks for the introduction. Many of us, myself included, have made that switch from cigarettes to the pipe. Feels more like a reward than a fix, doesn't it? I'm sure everyone here would agree that making time for the old world is good thing, and smoking a pipe is an excellent way to connect to that tradition.

Welcome, Nicholas! I hope we see examples your art, pipe-related or not

Top of the morning to you, Nicholas! You, Sir, have not bored us at all. Your introduction is well written and informative. Welcome to the Brothers of Briar! We hope you enjoy our forum.

I am also a former cigarette smoker, although there were many years between when I quit smoking and my introduction to fine cigars. That was almost twenty years ago. I am a new pipe smoker, and am still awaiting delivery of my first pipes. I am also attrected to the old style culture, the ritual and art, and the craftmanship of pipes and pipe smoking. Although my favorite hobbies are steeped in newer technology (motorcycles and tactical firearms) I also enjoy the finer pleasures of age old pursuits. One of my greatest desires is to own a home with a yard large enough for me to have a massive vegetable garden. I imagine the joy of walking through my own plants, smoking a pipe and enjoying the evening air...

We greatly anticipate examples of your arts! Not only your pipes but some of the many creations you seem to be involved in. You will find a very receptive audience here.

Welcome to the forum, Sir!

Thank you all for the warm welcome, I'm looking forward to having a place to share my work, have intelligent conversation, as well as see and appreciate others interests.

I was going to post a few pics of my pipes and it says I cannot do so for 7 days :( bummer It says to contact the Administrator for more info. Who might this be, and is there a way to receive early permissions?

You will find none of that here. We mostly rag on Kyle and listen to Yak preach about the end of the world. Occasionally someone will post a picture of a pipe and we all start drooling. That's about it.
