Hey all,

Just recently got into pipes, bought myself a new Peterson Kapet 68 about 2 weeks ago. Don't smoke much, maybe 4 bowls a week or less and never smoked before other than the occasional cigar here and there.

I rather do enjoy this lifestyle as it seems that smoking a pipe isn't about the nicotine fix, though I'm told that most pipe tobacco is pretty low on nicotine, but rather the relaxation and enjoyment of the smoke and I can see how that's true. I only ever have a bowl in the evening after supper and wow does it ever help calm the nerves...though it could be me just getting away from wedding talk which is in a week and a half :affraid:

Welcome to the club. Best of luck with the wedding.

A word of advise, don't sneak out to smoke a cigar during your wedding. If you do a much better looking dude, in West Point class As ends up cutting the cake with your wife. That doesn't go over too well with said wife. Makes for some interesting photos though.

Welcome to BoB and congrats! What are you currently smoking?

For me, a previous nonsmoker, the ritual of pipesmoking, the methodology, and the opportunity to slow down and reflect helps me relax. When calm I relearn to engage my senses, enjoying the taste and smell of the tobacco, listening to the sounds of the night, and feeling the cool air.

Or smoking during the day while reading a good book... Working on the house... Flying a kite... Snorkeling... Baking a bundt cake... Composing elizabethan sonnets...

Firstly, congrats on the wedding.

Secondly pipes generally are more for the relaxation and good conversation when amongst other pipe smokers, Every quote you will read about pipe smoking tends to be one of more intellect than normal....maybe that is just pipe smokers trying to sound smarter because we are all magically a president or physicist as soon as we have a pipe in our hand lol.

Welcome to the brotherhood, enjoy your time here and the endless wealth of knowledge on the subject of pipes and tobacco that you will find here. If you have any questions and can't find the answer in a quick search feel free to ask and we will come up with a good answer (whether it is right or fictitious). I look forward to seeing pics of your bouts with PAD and TAD. Enjoy.

Welcome to the forum! It's great to have you here

Congrats! And good luck!
