Hello Brothers of Briar! My name is Geoff and I have been smoking a pipe since 1997 when the cigar boom made it impossible to smoke my favorite sticks. I had gone back and forth from briar to cigar but find the briar to be a more complex and flavorful experience.

My first pipe was given to my by my wife and I now include a beautiful Italian pipe and a churchwarden. I tend not to collect pipes but lust after many pipes I see.

Typically I smoke Dunhill London Mixture or Nightcap and also McClelland's Frog Morton on the Town. I'm not opposed to trying other tobaccos but don't smoke aromatics. I have several tins on my shelf to try!

I've been working in the tech industry for 24 years and have work with startups, started my own and consulted companies. Right now I'm working with a startup company called 6fusion in the cloud computing space of infrastructure as a service (IAAS). Because of their location I can shoot over to Pipes by George on Hillsborough when the weather is cold or bad at lunch and enjoy a bowl. Otherwise you will find me wandering around Centennial Campus enjoying a bowl at lunch.

Welcome!
I agree with you, and I like your taste.
Cheers.

Welcome to the forum, Geoff! Cigars are great at times but I'm in agreement that pipes offer subtlties and satisfaction that no other method of smoking tobacco can compete with.

Welcome Neighbor,

I'm diametrically across the Triangle from you, up near Triangle Town Center. I also worked in the tech industry for quite some time out in the Park - semiconductor stuff.
