So...I don't even own a pipe yet but will have one soon from eBay. I chose what appears to be a bent Dunhill (I hope but you know e-bay) in excellent condition. I currently smoke cigs but I have tried a couple of friend’s pipes over the last few months. I have found I enjoy the feeling and ritual that goes with a good pipe. To be totally honest I hope to replace my cig habit with a flavorful pipe blend because I hate everything about cigarettes. I am not looking to give up my nicotine as I am a STRESS MONSTER but I am looking for a better smelling, better tasting alternative that just so happens to be more relaxing.

I was led to this very informative forum by a nice YouTube user named BlissfulOasis and I would like to thank him very much for doing so.

I am a pipe noob so be gentle but I learn fast. I tend to type mini-novels so I am sorry in advance. Last but not least; I am pretty chill but can get riled on occasion so if I step on any toes or offend anyone please feel free to tell me I am a jerk and correct me.
Thank you all :D

Welcome to Bob and do enjoy your time here. I took a ton of time reading here when I began smoking a pipe and it definitely paid off. The tips and advice you will find here is second to none...regardless of what those other forums might say lol. Piping is good and relaxing and you can still find blends with a heavy Nic bomb. Take your time and enjoy yourself. Feel free to ask any questions you can't find the answers to. Again, welcome.

Welcome to the forums! I hope you'll enjoy the hobby/lifestyle as well as the forums

Thank you all for your welcoming words!

Just a quick update.
I broke down today and searched out a local shop. Got a no name Italian made Cherry wood pipe in the style I like. The shop let me take it apart and ensure that it was well made, it was a pipe recommended by the shop assistant based on the owners words so I made the purchase. I also picked up the usual suspects (pouch, multi tool and tobacco). My tobacco choices were an in house blend that is becoming my favorite, Lane Ltd BCA, Dan's Sweet Vanilla Honeydew, Peter Stokkebye Peaches and Cream, and Dunhill Nightcap. So $105 later I am a happy man still waiting on a new pipe from eBay but it’s now my 2nd pipe I’m waiting on.

Another big welcome from another former Idahoan. Sounds as if you are well on the way to piper bliss.

:drunken:

The peaches and cream is a nice aro. Sounds like some tobacco in general. Which shop did you go to? Sturmans in Boise?

Hey there Leftover, welcome to the BoB, I think you'll find you are glad you broke down :)

Nope, I live in Pocatello. I didn't even think there was a specialty shop here but it turns out there is an amazing little hole in the wall shop nestled into historic old town. The service was amazing, the sales person knowledgeable, I got some killer discounts, and Picked up a pipe I love even though it’s a no-name pipe. All in all a great experience for my first foray into pipe smoking!

My local shop even has a pretty great website! (Support your local economy!!!!)

I wanted to post the shop web addy but I'm too newb still

Oh well I will get a chance to show support for my local shop in about 5 days.

Welcome, leftover421 !!!

As a fellow aromatic fan, I'd like to recommend Lazy Day from pipesandcigars.com . I was fortunate enough to be gifted a tin by Brother Simple Man, (thanks again, Jack) and it proved to be a truly outstanding smoke.

The folks here are as friendly and helpful as any you'll find. They even put up with me!
