hi all newb hear been thinking about trying a pipe i have a few my uncle gave me but need to clean them first .

Good to have you join the forum Chet. There is alot of good information hidden in these forums. Just don't let it get complicated for you.

Find yourself a comfortable place and take your time.

My favorite beginner spot was on the bank of a river. I only went when I had an hour to kill.

Err on the side of smoldering the pipe. Don't huff and puff trying to get more smoke from the pipe.

Welcome aboard, Chet. Good advice from Soshae, there. Don't be afraid to jump in and ask questions.

Welcome! You'll get the hang of it soon enough. One thing to do is to stick with one blend until you smoke it all or longer. It will help you get the technique down before you plunge into the world of obsessive tobacco aquisition disorder. Take it slow and easy. You can't taste everything at once, but you can learn to taste one blend at a time.

Welcome, Chet! Good luck getting started with our obsession

Welcome Chet!

There is a wealth of information in the older threads here. You can (and probably will) spend many hours reading and learning. And like George said, feel free to ask questions. There's usually always a few of us around to help if you need it.

Also - I 2nd taking your time. The selection of Blends available today is quite overwhelming. Pick one you like the smell of, or is recommended to you, and go from there.

I second this.
And welcome!
