Hi all,

Long story short - was a serious pipe smoker until about 5 years ago. Then lost my job and had some bills pile up - quickly liquidated my cellared tobacco (including a few tins of Bohemian Scandal I had snagged before the GL Pease fire) and my pipes (I never had anything terribly collectible/nice, but selling 3-4 pipes at $75 each helped to pay the bills). I kept a Meerschaum I had and the opened tins of tobacco I had around and slowly worked through the remaining tobacco.

All that brings us to three or so days ago when the wife looked over and said I should buy a couple of pipes and some tobacco.

Like I needed any encouragement...

So I am going to be shopping for a cheap-ish (Peterson/Savinelli/Stanwell) pipe or two. If I have my choices, I will probably get a slightly bent rusticated billiard (a la Savinelli's Bing's Favorite) and a bent bulldog or rhodesian. I have already picked up some Dunhill 965 and Nightcap that a local store had, and dusted off the old meerschaum - so I am on my way!

A question - I used to have a small Savinelli or maybe Stanwell (like a half a normal bowl worth) that I would like to find - I remember it being fairly inexpensive, but haven't found anything like it online. I might be misremembering the pipe, I think I gave it as a gift to a friend (or maybe lost it in my travels, who knows). It was nice when I didn't have enough time for a whole bowl, though and I figure would be worth picking another up.

Anyway, glad to find a forum for the Briar!

Welcome to the forum. I noticed Savinelli Lolita pipes at pipesandcigars.com are smaller pocket pipes. I know from experiance the Savinelli Short series pipes smoke great too. Hope this is of some help.

Welcome to the forum. About a year ago, I returned from a pipe smoking hiatus of my own. Good to be back, ain't it?

I'm new here also but have met some intersting folks and know you will also. I to am a "come back" to pipe smoking having taken a 10 year cigar hiatus and returning almost 3 years ago. Cigars just got WAY to fashionable and costly so I've retuened to my old friends of the past 40+ years ! Welcome and enjoy :p
