You ain't the only one this week..... ;)

OH SNAP, that is a sexy looking stem. This reminds me, do you or anyone else on here know of any pipes Peterson makes that have both a colored lucite stem and is also sandblasted or rusticated? Enjoy the pipe by the way and congrats!

If you guys like those Rosslares grab them up...they've been discontinued.

Well I was looking for a Classic in the 80s shape....I called Cupojoes and Smokingpipes to see if they could order one...I forget which one told me...but they said it was discontinued. So the Royals could still be in production...idk.

I think it's a matter of who you ask. A couple weeks back I was trying to source a Rosslare Classic 80S, went through a smokingpipes sales person and was told that it could be a year wait. I pried further and ended up in a three way email conversation with Sykes from smokingpipes, the Ashton rep (the importer of Peterson pipes to the US), and Tom Palmer of Peterson. Turned out that the truth was Peterson is backlogged on orders and the production schedule for making more Rosslare finish pipes is behind schedule, but it is intended that they get more out soon. I was told mid to late April for the pipe I ordered. The Rosslare line is still listed in their catalog as well, so I doubt that there's any immediate plan to discontinue a line that seems to sell out as fast as they can make them. It's probably a matter of the salesperson you talked to not understanding the difference between out of stock and out of production. But, you never know. It would seem odd to continue making Kapets and Donnegals and Kenmares and Arans that sit and sit on retailers shelves and cease production on the models that sell out quickly. I did also hear that Peterson was having difficulty sourcing good briar, and foresaw shortages in many of the Sherlock Holmes models and some other high grades, so that might play a part. This last bit of info came from The International Peterson Pipe forum and not directly from one of the above mentioned sources.

Peterson's quality standards on Rosslare briar are pretty high, so it's good to hear that instead of reducing the product, they are just not making them (or enough of them) right now.

I'm not really a Pete fan, but those stems! Pics don't do 'em justice.

Thanks for the advice....I just bought one tonight, oh and also thanks to Puff Daddy for informing me that Peterson made such a pipe (sandblast and a colored lucite stem). This one was really meant to be. I just happened to come across a gentleman's ebay store tonight and he had one for $60 so I jumped on it. Can't wait to get it!
