Hi guys,
First off, I'd like to say "Thanks" for hosting a great site. A bit of browsing and I was well on my way.
I guess I'm enjoying my new vice, as I found I needed to get a second pipe to give the other a chance to rest. 8)
I started with a very (very!) cheap pipe and a sample pack of different tobaccos from a reputable local tobacconist, and a week later I was convinced I needed another.... Yet another entry level pipe but a definitely a step up.
I'm just getting an idea of which tobaccos I prefer, but I find myself enjoying one sold as Exotic Dark English, with a very pungent, smokey and somewhat astringent aroma. I've also enjoyed a "Robust Burley". I'm not proving to be such a fan of the flavored sweet types though.
Any suggestions and guidance along these lines would be welcome!
I have to admit, I'm fascinated by the thought of making a pipe or two... I've got a modest work-shop, a life time of carpentry skills, and I'm always looking for an excuses to try new things (and get more tools!)
Cheers all!
