Hello. I've recently moved from London down to Somerset in the west country. Have been smoking pipes on and off for a long time, but recently have been attempting to do so exclusively and give up the cigs entirely. Unfortunately, I'm a victim of the PAD and TAD that seem to be prevalent disorders on this forum...

Welcome!

P.S. I like the idea of PAD as a diagnosed disorder! I could say things like, "No, I'm sorry, I can't make it to work today, it's just my chronic P.A.D. acting up again."

P.P.S. Billiards and bulldogs sounds great!

welcome sir! good to have someone from bloody ol' england! (i'm writing that with my best english accent, in case you can't tell.) look forward to much posting from you!!! :D

Thanks all, wonderful hospitality! Most unusual these days. Jolly good show wot.

That's a really cool looking brown trout you have as your avatar. Did you really catch it (in which case I'm envious) or just scarf the picture from somewhere on the net?

I like to fish too. In fact I've just been up to the Dee in Aberdeen Scotland fishing for salmon. However, following my usual luck, the river rose about 5 feet as I was driving up there and I didn't end up catching anything. Anyway, it just so happened that the road signs along the stretch I was fishing were all directed towards Stonehaven and I had time to reflect on the unfortunate fact that this tobacco is not obtainable in the UK... Really I do think that if these tobacco manufacturers are going to borrow all our famous UK landmarks for their product names, they could at least have the decency to make their blends available in the UK!

On the way back from Scotland I stopped off in the centre of Kendal, Cumbria (really!) in order to test the dubious theory that is prevalent in the pipe community that there is something in the lakeland air that imparts a unique essence to all the tobacco that is made there. As it happened my limited testing apparatus (nose) could not detect anything distinctive and so I have to declare a null result.

Welcome to the fray. I've noted in the past that many outposts of the Empire are represented and active here, but few from our sheared motherland. You have a large reputation to uphold.
