:bounce: If I'm in the wrong place please let me know!!!! I have a question? I read some where in order to take the bitter taste from a used pipe i should fill the bowl with uniodized salt, then drop 9 to 15 drops of 90% grain alcohol depending on size of bowl, let sit 30 minutes, clean salt from bowl, then let bowl air dry until dry. then proceed to smoke as usual and be suprised at better taste and enjoyment of smoking cleansed pipe. Does that sound correct? Thanks, To Everyone that cares to respond. PegLeg :joker:

I moved your post to the pipe forum just for better organization.

The Salt and Alcohol treatment does work pretty well. I usually let mine sit overnight though.

You can let it sit longer with the salt/alcohol treatment. Here's a link to what I assume is the canon version of this technique: http://www.pipes.org/Articles/PipeSweet.html

Don't forget to put a pipe cleaner in the shank (i.e. seal off the draught hole) when you do so... I forgot to do so once and had a hell of a time getting salt out of there.

If I remember correctly, RCH recommends not letting it sit for over 8 hrs., because it could dry out the wood which could cause cracks...
