I was at my local Trader Joe's and ran into a woman I only know quite casually. I'd been introduced some years ago, but never really got to know her. She was wearing a beautiful summer dress that came to mid-calf and, peculiarly, a pair of Chuck Taylor high top black tennis shoes. She saw and greeted me first and trying to be a gentleman, I complimented her on how beautifully she was attired. (She's petite, but wow, what a figure for a woman in her early 60s) She laughed and said she'd seen lots of young women with the summer dress, Chuck Taylor combo and thought she'd give it a try.
We talked a bit when she asked if I'd broken through the Covid cocoon. I said I was getting out a bit, but still very careful about crowds. Then she surprised the heck out of me when she suggested that we spend some time together. I said I'd like that, but did she realize I'm about a dozen years older than her. Her reply caught me off guard, "Steve, I'm not planning on having any babies with you, just some adult companionship with someone who can make me laugh."
She's a Ph.D. writer/researcher in some scientific field that I know nothing about. For everything other than her research writing she uses a nom de plume. I don't know her real name. I was told that she's connected to a well known political family.
Prior to the pandemic, I know I was recommended to her as a potential dance partner. During my undergraduate years, one of my survival jobs was teaching ballroom dancing at an Arthur Murray studio. She wants to learn the Dominican bachata, a dance with which I'm quite familiar. Although the woman is only about 5' 2", she's quite well endowed, topside, and I'm afraid I might have a heart attack in the clinches.
This is the dance she wants me to teach her.
The woman in the video is Tanja Kensinger. Here she is 12 years later at age 35.
