Information on different pipe materials.

I have been looking into different types of pipes and I was wondering if anyone could enlighten me on several of these. The types are porcelain(primarily antiques), steatite, cherry wood, and ebony. I am looking for information on how they smoke, the quality of the product, and if anyone has personally used any pipes made with these materials any information you might think would be useful.
