Interesting Cobs

Interesting cobs this guy sells.  I bought one that had an antique-ish look to it, and am quite taken with it.  Looks like he burned it or something then used a dark shellac on it.  This one doesn't have that look, but it does have a bamboo shank, which is cool.  Before you object to the price, bear in mind that you are also getting an acrylic bit included.  No affiliation, etc., other than being a satisfied customer.

:lol!: I prefer to think of it as Variations on a Theme, by X--but have it your way.  Actually, I wouldn't mind Mencken's simple version, which I have surely posted elsewhere.  I almost have this memorized:

"The ideal corncob is made of a large, dense cob, and is cut so that the cross-section is almost a rectangle. There is no varnish on it, or anything else to destroy its porosity. (By "rectangle" he means the side profile, as opposed to the barrel shape.)

personaly I'd prefer an all black bit but it is one neat looking cob and price wise is not all that bad!! :twisted: :twisted:

Pretty nifty look'en pipe if I do say so myself.  
Still a bit stiff of a price as far as I'm concerned for a stem with a corncob on the end of it.  :suspect:

That is pretty handsome for a cob, to be honest. The mouthpiece looks like a walker briar works bit to me. Which is most of the price tag itself, I'd say. I don't own any bamboo stemmed pipes personally. I could see that one being an interesting piece to own. Probably smokes well to boot being a cob. Reminds me of the "ultimate" corn cob pipes put together by a Canadian cobfooler, R. Santia. (Not sure you would call him a pipe maker for that)
