Hello, as you can guess from my moniker, I'm in law enforcement. I am a 21 year veteran of a middle sized town in the Piedmont of NC. I have only been smoking for about 2 months, and decided to do so upon finding a couple of old Dr. Graybow pipes that were my dad's from over 40 years ago...they are somewhat broken in. I have 2 other briars that were made in Italy. I have been trying out different tobaccos, but find that I keep going back to a vanilla flavor. That special someone in my life also likes the vanilla aroma. I have been a smokless tobacco user, but have never smoked until now. Please don't think me ignorant, but I actually had to google how to smoke a pipe...how to light it and keep it lit, how to pack the bowl, etc. I was introduced to this site by a friend who is former law enforcement...and I am glad he did as there is lots of good info here. Thanks for the opportunity to learn and look forward to many interesting posts.

Welcome! I don't think anyone here will fault you for googling how to smoke a pipe, most here learned the hard way without instructions from anyone! With the internet there are many sources of material which weren't available to me 30 years ago when I first picked up a pipe at the ripe old age of 18.

Some sites which might help you expand your world a bit (and help spend some of your hard earned money)

And of course this forum here at BoB, I have a much larger listing of bookmarks here:

I don't think anyone here believes there is a stupid question about pipes.

Again, Welcome

I've been smoking a pipe for a few years 3?4?5? I have terrible memory issues, but anyway...
I still google and youtube for pipe stuff... aint no shame in collecting info... whats shameful is having info available and refusing to harness it..
