As many know, I've recently joined the ranks of "estate" pipe owners with my recent purchases of my Danish Stanwell Pot and the LOVELY SB Bent Buldog Orlik Royal Sovereign that arrived this morning!! It is a nice lightly smoked pipe with a few dings and dents on the bowl, but what a bowl!! Some of the NICEST birdseye on both sides and bottom of the shank !! At some time it had a replacement Acrylic bit made which is OK, ( it's well made and fits perfectly) but my dentures work better with a hand cut wide fishtail vulcanite so I may get one made for it later.
I have to say, matia76 and his estate site have to be one of the BEST to deal with! I will be watching it regularly!!
As far as how it smokes, I have to say after it's first bowl of Virginia #27 I can appreciate asigning a certain pipe to A tobacco! This bowl of #27 just SANG in this pipe like it has in no other I've smoked it in yet !! Gonna let it rest till tommorrow night when we have another bowl of #27 in it again!! Have to say I'm a happy puppy tonight! Now I'll load up my "new" Stanwell #45 for it's first bowl of Royal Blend with my after dinner coffee. (I've been smoking #27 in it to "break" it in. I like to use straight Va's to break-in my pipes as they form a nice soft cake to begin with) . Here's matia's pic of it again for folks who missed it last time
