I wrote yesterday about my Fritmas Dunnie I was getting from my daughter and it arrived via FedEx this afternoon !! :cheers: :cheers: She got it from Bisgaard Pipes in Copenhagen earlier this month. When I opened the package it had a short note concerning the pipe stating that it was a grp4 Shell made in 1946 !!! The YEAR I WAS BORN !!! So now I'm a member of the Birth Year Dunnie Club !! :twisted: :twisted: They also stated that it had a recently replaced bit by Dunhill which is fine with me as it helped my daughter pay a bit less !!  :twisted:  The photos they took of it though excellent don't really begin to show how GRAGGY this blast is !! From it's manufacturing date it definately is one of the pipes made with oil cured Algerian briar so is one of the GOOD ONES ! :twisted:  :twisted:  I'll be lighting it up with a bowl of McC's FM 2000 tonight after dinner !! I'm not much of a club joiner but I like joining THIS club  :cheers:  :twisted:

That is one HELL of a gift! I KNEW that pipe looked too good to be recent. And a birth year, no less, the same as mine*. What a pipe! What a daughter!

* (green for envy)

Sweet! Looks like you got a 2-fer Michael. Didn't realize that was an estate as it looks brand spanking new.

Someday I'll come across a birthyear pipe.

Cheers,

RR

Lovely stuff!! Both your daughter and new pipe.

Seeing your pipe gives me a little hope....I was born in '44

I thought it looked brand new as well. That is one very well taken care of Dunnie! 8)

It is a beauty. I don't own any dunhills yet, but I do admire thier elegance and apparent functionality. Congrats on the gift of such a fine pipe

Very nice blast on that Dunhill Monbla. Congrats on your new Birth year pipe. It may smoke almost as good as your Edwards pipes and will definitely be regarded as a collectible valuable briar. :cheers:

Cracking looking pipe that Mr Monbla Sir, a lovely gesture from your daughter and a great result with the year. I'd be grateful if you could pass on my birth year of 1970 to your daughter too. ;)

Funny thing about this pipe, niether she nor I had any idea of it's age when purchased, she saw it in the shop and just liked it as it reminded her of my "... black graggly ones you had when i was a little girl" as she told me. I did not know till I got the pipe and saw the dating on the stem!! :twisted: Just proves when ya look you don't find!! :twisted: It's those "accidents" that so often are the most productive !! :twisted: :twisted:

Superb gift, and a beautiful Dunnie for sure. Congrats Michael.

Can't wait for my daughters to start buying me pipes. :D

Good fortune has indeed smiled on you! You're absolutely right through, if you'd been looking for a birth year pipe it would have been outrageously priced. Enjoy that craggy beauty in rude good health!
