Yep, #a47 and it's the best pipe I own. It's named "Merlin" because it's never gurgled or needed a pipe cleaner during a smoke and has never had to be reamed. That's includes over 300 smokes too. Hope yours smokes at least half as well as mine has.

Wow! She's a looker, excellent price point as well, bet she increases in value over the years.
Good score.

The very small town I grew up in had a Rocheleau family who were well known horse trainers and racers. I used to spend a lot of time at their stables helping and just hanging around with the horses. I wondered one time if John was related so I contacted him and he told me that they were distant cousins and he remembered them from family gatherings. Can't remember if he said he had actually been to my town or not for one of these. In the short time we spoke, John seemed to be a very fine gentleman.

Anyway, no I don't have one but for this reason I have been keeping an eye out for one and would not hesitate to grab it one comes along. Looks like you got a dandy one, let us know how it smokes.

There are a few of his pipes still on CupoJoes.com The first one on the page is one of his first makes and has the briar inset in the stem. After he found out that someone else was using that mark he switched to a plain stem. And yes, he is a super nice guy.
