Just a scenario, not counting any of the fabulous tobaccos from the past like: Penzance, Stonehaven or the outrageous Strang. If you had to choose, what two tobaccos you had to smoke ( availability) because of all the FDA BS, what two tobaccos would you choose :?: :?: :?:

My two would be:
C&D bulk version of Bayou Night, by the pounds!! I can smoke this all day.
Solani ABF for sure, about 250 tins. Another great all day smoke.

Oh man! I don't know! I have to think about this. BTW, wasn't there a list somewhere of pipe tobaccos that will be discontinued soon? I really need to find it and start trying/stocking stuff from it...

Kaitlyn, that's basically why I started this thread. To make sure everyone stocks up on their favorite 2 tobaccos before February of 2018, the 2 you can not do without. That's suppose to be when the next BIG fix from the FDA goes into effect. What's suppose too also happen by then or 2019, depending on lobbyists, ONLY those blends that were marketed before 2007 will still be available. Just make sure you keep stocking up your cellar as best you can. Prices will be much higher by 2019 and you might not be able to get your favorite tobacco anymore. Just imagine no more new blends being released, very sad indeed.

Well, I was rather fond of some of the McClellands, and Patton does wonderful stuff, but what I can match I grow, process and blend according to my tastes. Offerings that might disappear may still. However, there are always avenues of diversion that may ease the loss of other offerings that may fall to the wayside. Such is the way of things, yes?

Quiet nights and probably a va per blend if I could only choose two. Maybe Saint James flake. If I could have three I would add Dark Star to the list.

Some good tobacco choices!!

OW, I agree, living in NC now and extremely close to tobacco farms I have many options. I've been blending for many years. There will always be some good tobacco to stuff our pipes and smoke

Is ABF a pre FDA cut-off blend? Just curious. I cannot locate the actual release date. The first posted review is awful close to the Feb 2007 date.

DB, I opened a tin of Solani ABF THAT WAS AGED FOR 10 years this last weekend. The date stamped on my tin was October 2016. I'm a BIG burley lover and have been smoking Solani ABF since its release. Now the cut off date for the next major FDA enforcement was moved up from February 2018 to May of 2018. I believe there will be more delays because of the major tobacco manufacturers that filed a lawsuit against the FDA. So, it's not over till the fat lady sings. An old expression...lol
We will always have some good tobacco's to choose from, just stock up on your most favorites. Good luck my friend.

KEEP ON PUFFING!!!

Could some of you folks please shorten up your personal information that shows up on the left?

McClelland 2015
C&D Night Train

Zeno, in all the years I've been a member of another forum I've never been asked to shorten my personal info on my pipes and tobaccos I smoke. Your the first one, in what way does it bother you? Most people I find want that type of info on here.

Because this is what every single post looks like when you, and others with long lists, looks like: https://2img.net/h/oi67.tinypic.com/292lcnd.jpg

That's an entire screen, and it doesn't include what you wrote or the bottom inch of your post. It gets to be ridiculous. It's not your fault. It's a weird message board design I've never seen anywhere else. Most every other message board software I've encountered has character limits and/or doesn't include your profile information with each post. I simply see this as a nuisance is all. If I want to know more about a user, I can check out their profile.

Zeno, I will make the list short just for you later. Hope that helps. Have a great week :sunny: :sunny:

Oh, man... just two.

Right now (and I don't care if these are pre '07 or not, they're some of my favorites).

Seattle Pipe Club Plum Pudding
GLP Telegraph Hill

Very close runner up: GLP Fillmore

:suspect: Seriously, mate.  :suspect:

I really don't think that's a cool thing to ask.  As far as I know, tolerance should be a key value.

I didn't realize there were parameters to what we can politely ask each other. It was a request. Nothing more. He could have just as well said "screw you" or ignored me.

I'd also take the TH, and I'd also have Fillmore as the first to miss the cut. I'd probably swap out the Plum Pudding for McC's Blackwoods Flake, though.

Lord Coyote, I have thought about it for the last few hours. And I just can't narrow it down to only 2 choices. :p
