I don't have a churchwarden. Have never smoked one. I have been looking at buying one as my next pipe.

That was what I was thinking. Have burnt my tongue quite badly recently, so was thinking a church warden might help

They definitely cool the smoke down. I smoke outside and can't use it when it's too cold out because the smoke ends up being room temperature and flavorless by the time it gets to you lol! That probably doesn't sound too bad to you with that roasted tongue though!
