How's everyone doing?

My name is Jason. I'm brand new to the fine art of pipe smoking. So obviously I haven't got a favorite pipe or tobacco yet. At the moment I have a cheap corn cob but I've ordered a pear wood pipe. The first tobacco I tried was some Half & Half that I got at a "headshop" before I discovered a local tobacconist this week. They recommended I try their custom blend which I have...not bad, way better than Half & Half (in my opinion).

I live in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. Been married for nearly 13 years and have three kids. Additionally, I'm a Christian minister, 3rd order Franciscan, blogger, and now...pipe smoker.

I look forward to interacting from everyone and learning a few things.

Grace + Peace.

Hi there Jason, a warm welcome to the BoB to you. There's a lot of guys here that know a scary amount about pipe smoking, and most of them are pretty friendly. Most. :)

Feel free to ask away with any questions you might have.

Welcome to the Brotherhood, Jay!

Please come back often and join in.

Don't discount the Cobs yet, Sir. Some of them are great smokers and many of the Brothers here have at least a couple and use them regularly. For me, they're good run-around pipes. They're also great while outside on the mower. Worst case - I'm not out much if something happens to one of them (which has happened several times). 8)

Yeah - but at least I'm trying to improve my image here.

Yep, you're improving a lot Rob. One day this millennia you'll get there...

Welcome good sir. Enjoy your cob pipe - they really are a good smoke - while you explore the world, hobby, lifestyle, and passion that is the pipe. You will, I think, find yourself in good company here.

Welcome to the forums! I hope you enjoy your time reading & posting

Welcome to BoB and do enjoy your time here. There is a wealth of knowledge around the boards, and plenty of laughs. If you have any questions feel free to ask. And, don't be surprised when you find the cob outperforming the pear wood pipe. Welcome.
