I hate 'em. Just scored one from X for the hell of it. They are everything I remember them being from my early years. The metal contraption is a joke. I snapped the stem and tossed it.

Ouch... I have had good luck with them and have several I am very fond of. The threaded tenon is nice when you are not letting a pipe cool down between smokes. I know that is bad practice, but I do it fairly often in the car or at the office - not so much at home.

I don't mind the metal stems in the kaywoodies. I know that they are a pain to clean, however, the threaded tenon is great and the do seem to smoke drier. I have a kaywoodie apple, and it smokes well. It isnt my favorite by any means, but I have smoked worse. It is a good beater pipe, imho.
