So around $200.00 or so is the price range you are looking at? I noticed that pipe sells for $156.00 US $s based on current exchange rates for US $ to Euros. I think you might find something here in the US from Savanelli or Radice in the same price range without the currency exchange thing. I've always ended up paying more going directly to overseas retailers once my bank gets thru doing it's "charges" for the transactions :p

I had a Luciano poker/cherrywood a while ago (taper stem, not saddle) that i picked up from a local b&m and liked it well enough. I handled several others as well. Perhaps on par with a savinelli for the most part (slight edge to savs) from what i have seen. Bit was way too thick though. I paid just south of $100 US for it and felt that was about where it should be price wise.

I would not be willing to pay the exchange rate or overseas shipping for one though, you can find them at us retailers. There are also a couple different "grades" i believe...the standard Luciano and another line that has the Pease name attached to it somehow that i think are a bit nicer (but pricier). There is a nice taper stem cherrywood on smokingpipes right now for about 95 bones...just fyi.

I have a Luciano smooth prince. It's shaped well, drilled well, good grain, nice finish, but the acrylic stem is crap. First off it just felt light and cheap. I like acrylic stems, have a lot of them, and you can feel good solid acrylic to the tooth. This one was cheap and plastic-like feeling. Then, it had a whistle and was a tad wet when it smoked. Then, after only a few smokes, with a gentle tap into the palm to remove ashes, the thing snapped clean off at the tenon. I'll be sending it off for a good stem.......

It may be an anomaly to the brand, who knows. I wouldn't judge the whole brand from my one poor sample, but I'm not in a hurry to buy another any time soon.

My Luciano--also on the cheaper end of their line--has the opposite situation of PD's: that lucite bit is THICK, thicker than the bit of any other pipe I've smoked. Okay for me, as I'm a bigtime clencher, but I know some smokers prize a delicate-feeling bit. OKay smoker for the price, in my experience.

Luciano's are decent enough pipes. Be sure to look at the drilling because they can be off sometimes. Nevertheless, I own two and both are great smokers. I was able to get both of mine for $50 a pop brand new. I'd recommend them to anyone though.

The first Luciano I got was the CPS POY, because I fell in love with the quarter bent Rhody shape. It smoked so well I nabbed another 2, a fuller bent Rhody and a saucery straight bulldog (maybe a bullcap). All 3 are among my favorites, even more than my Castellos and Ardor. They all broke in well with Virginias from the very 1st bowl.
