As many know, the character known as Inspector Maigret was as much if not more of a pipe smoker than the much vaunted Sherlock Holmes and I'm always finding things about the Inspector that interest me. As many may know, his pipe ALWAYS figured prominently in ALL the novels and here is some info about that pipe ! I hope some here will find this interesting:

Pretty interesting read. However, the author had WAY too much time on his hands. He should have spent it smoking a pipe instead. :lol:

My understanding is that he chain-smoked pipes filled with Royal Yacht -- the N in that probably accounts for how fast he wrote!

Simenon is said to have smoked btwn 12 to 15 or so bowls of Royal Yacht a day and had over 300 Dunhills. I've been trying to find out where they went but details of his estate are not readily available.
