Found this interesting filmed interview from 1966 with Inspector Maigrets creator, Belgian author Georges Simenon about his pipes and Maigrets pipe. As those familiar with Inspector Maigret know, he smoked a pipe MORE than Sherock even THOUGHT of! His pipe figured in a large portion of the novels and he was described as never bieng without at least two on his person at all times. Simemon himself was an EXTREME smoker, reputadly smoking almost 20 pipes a day and having over 300 of his own to choose from. The clip is interesting just you will need to speak French to understand it :p

6-8 pipes a chapter! Don't know if he was brand-loyal, but that's Royal Yacht he loads up with... 6 pipes of that and I couldn't get off the sofa, much less write.
