MM Ozark Mountain: Care and Cleaning?

I know it's not a briar, but would the same rules apply for the care and cleaning of Missouri Meerschaum's Ozark Mountain pipes? I just ordered mine a couple hours ago and I would like to give it the proper care it deserves.

Make sure and gently develop an extra-thick cake in the bowl, as that maple will burn out much easier that brier (the OM pipe is one of their maple or cherry wood pipes, yes?). I'd smear a few extra layers of honey or other favored cake-former to get that protective coating going. Then keep an eye on it.
