I was just over on the IPPC site and found one of the nicest Peyes I've seen ever! It's a special style they seem to make for the trade shows called a "Black& White " silver spigot. This one is a shape # 68 and the scroll work on the spigot and stem is beautiful! And COJ's has some in stock! But sadly they are priced out of my range, but I can always dream Here's a link to some pics of one :

I love those Black and Whites!!! Especially the scollwork on the spigot. I wish there was something similar on a cheaper model.

Yeah I do like the look of the spigot models, and the scroll work really makes the pipe stand out.

What a beauty! The scroll work is excellent!

Is this it mon? Doesn't look too 'spensive to me. $70.25......

I hate the way CoJ's does that. I always make the same mistake.

I do that, too. Combo of age and wishful thinking. But to be tedious for just a moment, you'll notice that the retail price of a beautiful pipe like that is easily doable by any regularly employed pipester. No one in the family, including the dog, will miss a meal, and the missus probably already owns a purse she paid that much for. OTOH, I have several similar Petes only w/out scrollwork, which won't improve the smoking quality, anyway. So either way, you're making an economically defensible choice.

I like the way you put that Kevin. As for myself, yes I could probably justify the cost if I really had to have it. I splurged on another Pete earlier this year, and while it was a bit less than this one I rationalized it by selling off some cigars to basically zero the cost.

Anyway I think it was Yak that said something like after a certain dollar amount all you're paying for is pretty wood. Or in this case the scrolling.

I still have the hots for a Pete XL 26 red spigot like this, but it's out of production-

Mind, if I ever find one I'll snap it up in a heartbeat! Sod the cost...........

.........well almost..............

Monbla that is a gorgeous pipe, absolutely beautiful. I'm not rich but out of interest I tried sourcing one in Ireland or UK. The closest I got was a Celtic silver spigot which has very similar engraving on the band. It's still expensive.

I think this PAD may be contagious as I'm now feeling an impulsive urge to own one of these......
