Well, i've been waiting to see if there would be a thread of Christmas presents, that were pipe related??? But to heck with it,,I have to show off my new Pete. :D
It was a present from the most wonderful woman in my life! :D :D :D

its a green model 65 spigot, and it is a dandy to smoke.

It came with "University Flake" so thats what Ive been using it for, but the Flake is running out, (I just might have to put that on my future order list) so Ive been using it for my "Boswell's Virginia Slice".

It is my first "Fishtail " as well, and I really like the feel of it , and it is quite comfortable to clench without scratching.
And it is so light in weight it surprised me.
It had a thin black layer of something like a lining , in the bowl,,sort of a "cake" maybe?

Anyhow, Thanks for looking.

BTW, any advice that I might need to know about the care of a Spigot , would be greatly appreciated.

Dusty

Very nice, those green spigots look great! I too rec'd a fantail Pete for Christmas, I wiped out the bowl coating with a few paper towels soaked in Everclear. Any alcohol product should work (booze, Iso, etc.)

Hey Riff,
Why did you wipe out the bowl coating?
As I didnt, I smoked the first 3 bowls really slow, and lightly packed, to build up a cake layer , down to the bottom.
And I have smoked another 4 bowls I think.

Should I just keep going? or should I get rid of the coating?

Dusty -

You have a really great pipe! I love the green and Peterson does it well!

Congrats and happy smoking!

The bowl coating is optional. Some like it, others don't.

Love the green finish in a Pete; seems like it belongs there.

I just read it made the first few smokes not so pleasant. I wiped it and smoked a few bowls of Boswells Premium Burley. I must have gotten most of it as I had no taste issues.

Very nice. Its hard to beat a Peterson. I have only had acouple of new unsmoked pipes. It takes a few bowls to get her right. You should have many bowls of pleasure from your Pete.

Nothing not to love on your new Pete. I really dig the green.

WOW its like a precious emerald, I just cant say enough good things about Petersons...if you dont have one in your collection your missing out...thats all

Wow Dusty, that's a gorgeous Pete! I'd love to add one just like your's to my collection. Enjoy! 8)

Great looking Pete! Especially with the silver band.

I too got my first Pete just recently. A racing green XMAS 2011 Dublin and I dedicated it to SG Chocolate Flake. Great smoker. Nice draw and the bit is just right.

Good caution on care. Will be careful when cleaning. A coat of pipe wax would probably be a good idea.
