Greetings all. I have been using your forum as a resource for the past few months and I thought it was time I registered and contributed. I just started pipe smoking 6 months ago and I am in love with it. I have only smoked a few English blends so far (mostly Dunhill - Love Nightcap) and I tried an aro (hated it). I've already gotten some great advice from the boards and I wanted to say thanks. I'm pretty strapped for cash at the moment so I only have one Dr. Grabow. At the suggestion of some much more experienced pipers I will be picking up a cob or two to extend my rotation. One question that I have never seen mentioned (maybe I missed it)... Is it ok to smoke a pipe at a cigar bar? I've never seen it done the few times I have been to one and I would like to make sure it isn't against some unwritten rule before I go in and light up. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum! In regards to your question, I've seen it debated elsewhere. The best thing to do would be to ask the manager.

Welcome. Used to live in PA, Indiana. Grandpaw was DA there. In response to your question, any cigar bar I've been in has had a pipe smoker or two. But they are cigar bars, after all, so they're going to be predominantly cigar-oriented. A lot of guys smoke both, but not everyone is adept at carrying on a conversation with a pipe. Stogies are easier.

Welcome to the forum! It's great to have you here

I hope there's no unwritten rule about not smoking a pipe at cigar bars because I do it all the time!

Welcome!

I would say that pipes and cigars are equally welcome at almost all cigar bars.

Where in PA are you from?

Hello! What part of the Commonwealth do you live in?
I'm living in Lancaster right now. I was actually really excited to move here until I found out that Demuth closed. Thanks for all the great responses and welcomes.

Welcome!

As to pipes at cigar bars, most establishments lump cigars, pipes and (unfortunately) clove cigarettes into the same category for their more pungent lingering smoke. Any cigar bar should be well equipped to handle the smoke from a pipe. Back when restaurants had smoking sections, this was not always the case, so often there were "No Pipe or Cigar" rules...

NB It is funny how a crowd of cigarette smokers will give a guy with a stogie a filthy look when he lights up. As the guy waiting tables in said section, Cigarette smoke would stick to my uniform for a week and make my whole laundry smell, but my pipe smoke dissipates from my jacket in a short time when I hang it on the hook.

Welcome flyingpiper, I live just about 45 mins to the south. If you ever head to Md we will have to have a bowl together.

Welcome to the group, I dont see any problem with you smoking a pipe in a cigar lounge...
