I met Todd at the NASCP show in Columbus this summer. I had the good fortune to share a few bowls and some good conversation with him, among others. It didn't take long for me to decide to have him craft a bent bulldog for me. The pipe arrived yesterday, along with a tamper I hadn't planned on receiving, and I'll tell you guys - this is absolutely fantastic.

I'll start breaking this in this evening, so I haven't actually smoked it yet, but it looks great and feels great. As I told Todd when I asked if I could use his photos on the board, the only thing worse than my camera is my photography skills, so all photo credit goes to Todd (except the one of the tamper - I'd to have his camera work associated with that awful snapshot). As is usually the case, the pictures are a pretty good representation of the pipe, but it's even better in person.

Also, I do want to say that - as some of you already know - Todd is a heck of a guy, and very easy to work with. Really, really, a great experience.

It's no secret that Todd's pipes are among my favorites in my collection. Which is why I work with him when I have a few coins to rub together--they smoke unbelievably well. I already have two designs backed up and waiting. :)

Wonderful Harris Bulldog, Ian. Just wonderful. You got some of his "brick rustication" work on there (...it looks like the texture of brick to me... don't ask... )... it's a great texture. It's gonna smoke beyond your expectations--just you wait.

Wow, spectacular looking bulldog. Mr. Harris does some great work.

What a neat interpretation on the classic bulldog shape, great pipe.

Congrats Ian on a beautiful pipe. The rustication design is great. Enjoy!

Beautiful!

One day I am going have to lay out the dollars for an artisan pipe. Everyone I see pushes me a little closer. Actually this one shoved me

Slide, this is my third artisan pipe (though I'm not entirely sure their is really consensus on how to define artisan, but you know 8) ), and the first that I actually commissioned from the start. Practical purpose aside, it's a very satisfying way to spend your pipe dollars, imo.

And as to the practical purpose, the first bowl I put through this one smoked like a dream.

That's a gorgeous bulldog! I can tell that it's going to be a pleasure to smoke and clench. Congrats!

Stunning pipe - congratulations!

Enjoy!

Well, I don't know if I am a pipe engineer, but I am an engineer...who makes pipes. :)

That is truly a work of art.

I'm glad Todd decided at some point to start making pipes. That is one of the nicest looking pipes I've ever seen.

Great work, Todd.
