If you look at one of the Pease/DiPiazza pipes the bit gradates severely and quickly. I've seen this on other chubby nosewarmers. How could this possibly be comfortable? I clench all my pipes, and therefore a comfortable bit is necessary. In my mind the form of the sloping lines from bowl to bit takes precedence over utility; this is putting aesthetics over function, and to me that is always a losing proposition.

I tend to agree. The best bet for a nosewarmer comfort-wise is a saddle stem. You can make those as thin as you want. But, having a steep taper makes it much harder to make it comfortable.

I find on some pipes I have that more of a steep taper, it's more like the bit wedges your teeth in, instead of your teeth clenching the stem in....if that makes sense.

I've two of the Pease di Piaza Radice June Bugs. With my thin surgical rubber bit protectors they clench well enough. But at 63g they're not a pipe to take lawn mowing with you.

Those two Junebugs look great.
Is that a silver capped rim on the smooth pipe?

Hi harlock - That particular one was stamped 8/100 and according to Luciano was the only silver capped June Bug of the series on account of it's bird's eye grain. One of my best pipes.

Nosewarmers are cool looking, but I doubt I'd like smoking one. I have this thing against smoke in my face and eyes.

Back at the ranch, though, those Junebugs, and the one with the rim detail, holy crap those are stunning.

I picked up this Radice last month. It is 53 grams and clenches nicely. I do love those Junebugs, Kashmir, yours is a beauty! I probably don't need another nosewarmer, but if I get another it will be a June Bug. Someone hear sold two last year, I whiffed on both, didn't act quickly enough.
