old pipe set

The father of a very good friend of mine passed away a couple of weeks ago, he was the last of the true "old guy" pipe smokers I know, I used to go over to my friends house every saturday morning and we would work on motorcycles and drink beer, his Dad used to stop by smoking his pipe and he would sit there and yell at us for doin everything wrong, which of course was always a tad bit humorous to us, well I started gaining an interest in pipes about 2 weeks before he passed on, I kinda feel as tho he was passing his hobby on to me before he left this earth. well to sum it all up, my friend decided I should have all of his pipes and other related objects, here are a couple pictures of a couple of things i was given that were not even used, all in all I now have about a dozen or so metal stemed pipes and 4 new briars none are high end but all bring back some memories the capt black pouches in that pipe set still feel soft as if the tobacco is still in decent shape

That is so wonderful that you have something to remember the old Boy by, makes a difference having something tactile to hold onto when you remember friends and loved ones who have moved on, treat them well and you'll have a connection to your fond memories for a lifetime.

You're gonna love that lighter. The Nimrod Commanders are very dependable. I like mine better than my Zippo pipe lighter.

Yeah the nimrods are nifty, my buddy just gave me 2 more nimrods today one that looks like it was on of the originals from the 30's and on from when they reproduced them in the 60's, the newer one is still in its packaging the older one has been used, also today he gave another Bag full of pipes mostly dr.grabow, a couple of yelo bole Brylon pipes, those have HUMUNGUS bowls a couple of old MM even a wooden Cherry wood like MM , and two of the dr.grabow pipes are still in the original packaging never opened a Royal Duke and a Grand Duke
