I'm gonna make some online purchase which I have avoided till now and I want to know what direction is should go as far as TAD.
I'm gonna rate 1 - 5 some tobaccos I have tried so you guys can get an idea.

Bob's chocolate flake - 5
Peter Stockebye 1Q - 5
stanwell melange- 4.5
Peter stockebye LNF - 4.5
Mac barren golden extra- 4
Mac Barren black ambrosia- 4
Peterson sweet kilarney - 3.5
peterson university flake- 3
dunhill london mixture - 2.5

I like aro's but i like chocolate and carmel end of the spectrum i'm not a big fan of any fruit flavors at all.
Any input is welcome. :?:

Those are some quality blends/mixtures though a bit more to the Aro side than I personally smoke. For myself, the Dunhill would be at the top with the University Flake and Golden Extra next. That would be all I would get, but you are not me and should get what pleases you :p

I am not a regular aromatic smoker but there are a few that I sampled recently that I enjoyed.

These are from Rich at 4noggin's, I liked these because the flavoring played second fiddle to that of the natural tobacco. I would categorize these as flavored or topped rather than cased.

Double Fantasy (chocolate)
Essence of Vermont (maple)
Otter Creek (vanilla)

Another chocolate that I liked pretty well was McClelland's Tastemaster. Stupid name but respectable American aromatic.
Boswell's aromatics are top notch. Also check out Carole's bacs at Pipeworks and Wilke.

Boswells no bite delight
Boswells Dans Blend
Peterson Luxury Blend

Boswells Northwoods, Boswells Pipers Pleasure, L.J. Peretti No. 432.

I'm going to go off my normal recommendations and try to hit your nail right on the head...most of these are aromatics in the American sense...the Gawith & Hogwarts blends are English Scented style...and if a bit off your usual, they're REALLY excellent and you might as well get a couple to try that are in your ballpark. If you like the cocoa/caramel zone...you'll likely enjoy Burley based blends that have a vanilla note and it kind of gets into that same area. And always be on the lookout for Burley blends as the Burley has a very high reputation for taking on flavors well.

Brit stuff:

No. 1 recommended blend: Gawith & Hogwarts Scotch Flake...the one described as cocoa/chocolate, etc. It should REALLY be in your zone.

(I don't think any vendors have this in right now, but I could send you some if you want.)

Gawith & Hogwarts Broken Flake #7 (of just look for #7...it's called different things, but there's only the one)

Gawith & Hogwarts Coniston Cut Plug (to my taste, the best G&H blend aside from Lousiana Perique Flake)

The American stuff...aromatics, but really good ones:

McClelland Grey Havens

Mc C Club Blends Caramel Rush *

Mc C Club Blends Vanilla Ice *

Mc C 221 b Series Honeydew (it doesn't taste like honeydew)

Mc C Club Blends: GKCPC Chocolate Silk *

Dan Tobacco Milonga *

Dan Tobacco Sweet Vanilla Honeydew*

Just For Him Treebeard & Longbottom Leaf (and while you're at it...Shortcut to Mushrooms)

The starred blends (*) are ones I haven't tried personally...but they are in your area of interest, are very well regarded and should serve you well.

Note: stay away from anything made by Altadis...cheap tobaccos laced with goopy flavors that typically smoke hot.

Ya I have tried altadis stuff, always seemed on the lower quality end. How is PS bulls eye flake or luxury twist flake? Thanks for the recommendations guys

Is scotch flake one of those that is unavailable to purchase like fvf ?

If you like 1Q then you should love 191 from Pipeworks and Wilke.

For caremel, 3 Blind Moose from 4noggins is outstanding, and for chocolate, Chocolate Creme from Boswells. I also really like Town Topic from McClelland or Essence of Vermont from 4noggins for maple.

If you like McClelland's Tastemaster, then you should try their 20XX Holiday Spirit. Similar concept, but taken to the next level - both in flavor and room note with No chemical taste to it.

Both are Excellent Aro's IMHO.

IKE -

I don't think ANYTHING is quite like FVF in terms of its unavailability...except for Stonehaven. But Scotch Flake (sometimes called Scotch Flake Scented...consensus is that it's the same item) is somewhat hard to find. A fast google didn't locate it in any of the usual suspects.

But since I already have your address, I'll send you a sample.

Thanks Rob. I take it Holiday Spirit is a seasonal? That was one that I was looking for when I bought Tastemaster but all the usual vendors were out.

My first tin of this was sent by my Secret Santa. I ordered another back in Feb. but it is now gone. Watch this fall - closer to the holidays. I'm sure the next year's vintage will be available soon.

Update:

Looks they still have some available at smokingpipes.com and at 4noggins.com as well. I normally order from 'pipesandcigars', but they are sold out.

If you hurry, you might still catch them in stock at the first 2 sites I mentioned.

Holy Crap! Another Update, D&B.

It seems I do have some 2011 Holiday Spirit still left. I put it away for safe keeping, and forgot that I had some left.

In BoB fashion, PM me your Address Info and i'll send you a sample - enough for at least a couple of bowls. This way you can compare it to the Tastemaster before you purchase any.

I just finished a bowl of this myself in my Peterson Shannon 03 Fishtail, Damn i'd forgotten how good this stuff is. I'm gonna hurry and order another couple of Tins today...
