The BIN prices are sometimes a little high but it allows you the opportunity of getting a pipe you want without the hassle of the auction and running the risk of being out bid. Sometimes an auction will have a bidder who is clueless of the pipes value and makes bids that are totally unreasonable. It happens all the time. BIN gives you the option of avoiding that and you may pay a premium for the privilege. You can always contact the seller to see if they will take less than the price posted. I have on several occasions and have alway been successful. Just be sure to make a fair offer. FWIW :)

The "best offer" thing is misleading too. To me, that means best offer gets it, but they don't have to accept any offer. They oughta call it "make an offer and we'll think about it", not "best offer".

I have wondered why they don't call it "make offer" myself. I have only made one reasonable offer on a "buy it now." It was rejected. The item was relisted at the same price. They had at least one offer, so there was a "best."

Anyone else having a problem with the screen resolution in this thread? I'm having to use the scroll bar at the bottom of the page to read all of the reply. It's the only thread on the forum I'm having this problem with. :scratch:

Not being an e-bait player leaves me out of the mix on these, although I will admit to looking there occasionally just for grins and to see what older collectable pipes are going for.

That one merchant who is obviously selling new pipes - tobaccopipestore in FL - always seems to command too many offers on what I'd have thought was a place for private individuals to flog their used wares.

Guess there's no restriction on that aspect, but equally if I'm going to buy a new Pete it wouldn't be on e-bait.

<shrug>

Live a little, Brew. Buy a pipe on eBay. I think they have home brewing kits too. :)
