Some one contacted me and asked me to buy these pipes, they are probably close to a 2 hr drive from me, I don't have enough knowledge to recognize any of these pipes from this picture which is all he sent me, would any one possibly be able to identify any of these pipes so I know it would be worth my time to drive that far to check them out?
Thanks,
Harry

There's a few in there... that meer, a couple of the thicker metal bands and that Falcon-esque pipe that might be alright. Looks like cheaper Medicos, Grabows and Carey pipes from my end. Can't really tell. If you're into restoring cheapo pipes, might be heaven for ya. The rack is the best part. I wouldn't go over $75 - $80 for the lot, and you better be really into some of the shapes and restoration ahead of you. If all else fails, offer $30 for the rack.

The metal pipe, Viking/Falcon has an extra bowl on the upper shelf. Abt $35 as a guess. Try to get the stamped names, numbers, and any other info on them and get back to us.

:bounce:

Is that the classic Sherlock Holmes pipe rack? I'd pay $50 for that alone!

Thanks for all the input Fellas! I offered him $50.00 and said that was the best I could do until I actually looked them over, but have yet to get a reply back again, honestly that was farther than I wanted to drive so unless I could get them at a steal of a deal, I'm not all that interested.....

But I got to know how could you guys ID that rack from what little of it was in that picture?

The rack is a unique piece...I thought that's what it might have been, but I don't think anyone else is making those dartboard-case style pipe racks. Not commercially, anyway.

Pro tip: never offer money before you see the goods in person. It can turn off people who might have otherwise taken it face-to-face--and strike you out in the area of trying to buy individual pieces, if they're open to it. No sense in offending someone with a low offer, either. Sale transactions are pure psychology, and assessment of goods, the person's situation, etc. Money is lower down the ladder, so poker-face and end-game mentioning cash. I've traveled distance and came home with nothing, except I remember I enjoyed the journey, so, investment zero, but money well-spent.

... in any case, good luck! :)

Thanks Kyle,
I probably went about it the wrong way but my intention was for him to counter offer so I kinda had an idea of what he was thinking, b4 I drove the whole way down there to find out I was dealing with Stonewall Jackson...LOL
