I've received a mail in which this deal was offered.  Don't know why they sent it to me because they do not ship to South Africa.

This seems to be one very big bargain?  One can select a pipe selling for $199 plus 3 tobaccos plus plus plus for only $79.99?  This seems to good to be true?

I would like to make use of this offer but, as I've said, they don't ship my way  :(

What do the brothers think of the deal and what can I do to make use of it if it's worth the while?  The pipes alone seems to be worth buying for that price without even looking at the tobacco and other odds and ends

I say if it sounds "2 good 2 be true" it probably is. "Nothing is Free" no matter how much they tell you. "Trust NO one!" Am I cynical.......well maybe, just a little.

Will you have a look at it and let me know what you think about the offered deal please?

I find NO such offer at Pipesandcigars.com

I take that back, after a good search I did find it. There are 2 a Gold and a Platinum.
Well, my own taste in pipes says no, that and I think there suggested retail prices for both the pipes and tobaccos is a bit exaggerated. I mean $170 for a fricken Hilson, not me sir.
But, I'm probably not the best one to ask seeing I wouldn't deal with P&C if they were the last tobacconist on earth.

That is the going price for the pipe alone. If you order the combo, you get the whole lot for $79.99, pipe incuded. Or maybe I'm wrong? All pipe prices are scrathed out. You select down the list and then they give you a total price of $79.99. That's how I see it? Just received a mail from them that they are not allowed to ship outside the USA due to tobacco regulations!

What I'm saying is that the suggested retail prices are showed higher then usual to make one think he is getting a deal when he may not be. For a $170 I can a real nice Mastro De Paja Estate pipe. And if there not allowed to ship overseas why are they sending mail overseas? Very strange indeed. But, as I said before I'm not really the person to ask.

OK, I see what you mean. I did not realize that the prices of the pipes were jacked up.

Thanks for opening mine eyes!

That Hilson is ordinarily around $120 it would seem, the combo is still a good offer as the pipe is a lot less than other sites and you get a whack of freebies but jacking up the suggested retail price is a poor show but it is common practise with many shops, especially around the holidays. I must say that I tend to wonder about such offers, batches of crap pipes and bad batches of tobacco spring to mind, could be wrong of course but they always make me wonder!

I looked into this combo "deal" today and as others have said, the prices listed on the deal page are MSRP.  If you were to buy those items normally from P&C you're not paying MSRP. Let's take the "Platinum" combo deal for example:

Stanwell Featherweight + Julius Max (I'm assuming here you get the least expensive pouch in the deal:
MSRP 162.00 / Reg Price: 79.95 (pipe) 19.99 (pouch) = $99.94
Drew Estate Meat Pie:
MSRP 12.00 / Reg Price: 8.50
Dunhill Elizabethan Mixture:
MSRP 12.60 / Reg Price: 8.87
H&H Blackhouse:
MSRP 10.50 /Reg Price: 8.95
Screw together tool:
MSRP 10.00 / Reg Price: 7.95
Brigham Regular Pipe Cleaners:
MSRP 4.50 / Reg Price: 2.10

All of this for $79.92 is a pretty good deal, but just HOW good of a deal?
Total MSRP: $211.60 / Total Reg Price: $136.31

Just looking at the MSRP, it appears you're saving $131.68, when you are actually saving $56.39 from purchasing everything separately. You ARE still getting a deal and 56 bucks is nothing to scoff at. Whenever you see combo deals from any retailer I think it's pretty common they show MSRP's to make it look like the deal is better than it is. Just marketing at work...

Seeing that the Savinelli Tevere was back in stock this morning (it was backordered the last time I checked), I decided to go ahead and take advantage. It's a good deal, though as others have pointed out, no one pays MSRP at P&C anyway.

EDIT: I should have pointed out that the Savinelli was the lowest-priced pipe option, so I would have saved more if I'd chosen one of the others. I'm a Savinelli enthusiast, though.
