I love that old-timey stuff. Pipes are so basic---a bowl and a stem---that by the mid-20th century, lower-end manufacturers routinely went to extremes to differentiate themselves from their competitors. Result? "Rum-Maple-Hickory Supercured Antarctican Briar Bowls Combined With Scientifically-Proved, Aerodynamically-Designed Smoke Cooling Shank-Chambers!"

What a hoot.

Meanwhile, BBB, Barling, Dunhill, Saseini, etc. just kept on making... pipes.

I go back to 35 cents a gallon.
Hamburger meat was about 70 cents a pound.
I just noticed that my keyboard has a $ but not a cent sign.
Oh well....
