I found a sister pipe to my 411 Bullcap. This 407 is a Kapet and had the identical 1947-1949 COM. It was advertised as NIB, but it had been smoked - so that eliminated the dilemma of "should I smoke it"?. Of course I should!

Again, Mark Irwin to the rescue with this 1925 catalog page showing the shape. I'm still puzzled that there are zero Peterson catalog scans on the web. Mark hopes to remedy that with some reprints of key catalogs.

This one came with a period box, bag and literature (different shape number).

The fish tale was the only downside, I'm a P-lip guy. I am curious as to how it smokes compared to the Bullcap with P-lip. The stinger requires a monster draft hole into the bowl. I've been smoking the Bullcap with aluminium tube for the same reason. But this contraption looks more challenging. I wish that I could find a tube for it.

That's really a nice pipe AL. Being a well made Pete it should be a great little pipe to smoke your flakes in. I have only one P-lip Pete and I'm having a problem getting used to it but it delivers a fine smoke every time I light it up. I was actually kind of surprised to read you prefer a P-lip. I guess that's why they make them. A lot of people seem to be buying them. If you decide you can't live with that fishtail let me know. We might be able to work out a deal. :)

I always said that I did not like the p-lip, but to that point, they were only on modern, acrylic steemed pipes. When I had my first Vulcanite stemmed Pete, I really enjoyed it. I also prefer the p-lip astethic.

I'll keep you in mind AJ, but probably won't break up this pair.
