As far as leather covered pipes it's not bad. I have just always assumed they cover crappy briar that way.

The one leather-wrapped I have is some French pipe that I can never remember the name, and it smokes ace, and since I can't see the briar, I just assume it's a fancy straight grain that's simply far too nice to show to the world. :lol:

Lordy, that thang is ugly.

I had two leather covered pipes.
Still have one but the other is no longer leather covered and has gorgeous grain.
Haven't a clue as to the grain of the other one.
