Again, an older post I'm including here to bore you guys.

When I got this pipe I thought it was really cool, but I didn't notice some flaws straight away, it had a lot of fairly deep scratches on the bowl and the shank band was dented. Additionally I started to really hate the colour, what is with this really crap red dye that some pipes are getting stained with, it is absolutely horrid to me, at certain angles the stain proved to be flawed in numerous places making the finish look really quite nasty up close. I cleaned off the original coating and stained it with the dark brown stain then polished and waxed it, for a while I was happy with it, but Yesterday I found myself hating the look of it due to all the filler I found, it is badly shaped, there was a pronounced 'lump' in the Briar on the left side of the bowl, it looked really bad the more I looked at the bowl the worse it looked to me, so the bug bit again!!

This is how it looked before I worked on it yesterday:

I wanted to go a lot further with the carving side of thing with this bowl but my chisels currently are simply not up to the job, it cam out quite nice though, i like my Quintex again now which is what matters to me.

This is how it looks now:
