I tend to "spare" my most favourite pipes, rather smoke the less favourites.
I smoked a Pete 80s yesterday which has been on leave for about 6 weeks. Tasted a bit bitter, not nice.  Can that be because it's been out of circulation for to long?

Never had that problem except when I put a pipe up that had not been cleaned well before I put it up. I've had several pipes, Pete's, Savinelli's, Edward's etc that I've not smoked in Years and had NO problems except the few I forgot to clean before I stopped smoking 'em ! Usually a hiatus from smoking can give a pipe some "new" life!! Strange

Thank you, my bro'.

This is just the point, the pipe has been cleaned thoroughly before I put it in the rack. Cleaned it with surgical spirits and made sure the pipe cleaners came out clean.

I have a little steel "bottle brush" which I'm going to use regularly from now on, see if it makes a difference.

All sorts a things can get into a pipe while it's sitting, I once had room freshener get in one.
Wasn't a good taste but, left quickly. The old woman getting too close to my pipes with it I reckon. I've even got cotton bits from cleaners, so I make it a habit to blow through them before loading them anymore.
