These are some new creations of the German pipemaker Roger Wallenstein. I'm warning you these new creations are by this controversial. I'm sure there will be a discussion about beautiful and ugly. Not only the shape but also the using of colours will be a point of discussion.
I have asked him why he started to colour his pipes. Hope to get an answer soon.

Some pretty creative pipes. Personally I like them, and can't imagine what it took to make them.

Well Mr. Fatman,

Roger is a very sympatique and unique person. In the beginning of his career he made a trip to Denmark and visited some pipemakers and got inspired by the danish design. (i.e Anne Julie) In his older shapes you can recognize the danish design. Another source of inspiration is Ireland. To my opion you can see that not only in the name of the shapes but also in the pipes. He is a very creative person, respected by many pipemakers in Germany and Austria. There are a few few pipemakers that got inspired by his creations, they also make more extravagant shapes and are using colours. If you are interested in the situation up there take a look at the Gallery of "Das Kunstportal" a forum of pipemakers in Germany and Austria.

he has been coloring his pipes for atleast a year if not longer. I love his creative craziness, and one of his pipe making friend Christian as well.

Hello Rev,

I think you are right....but have you also discovered WHY he started using colours?? Before I became ill I discussed many times with him about pipes and evrything that has to do with that but he never mentioned the use of colours.

I do not know why, but what I wouldn't give to spend a few days with him in his shop

Hello Rev,

Roger doesn't sell his pipes not by himself anymore. In Europe he is treated Kopp in Germany and if I am not wrong Cup'o Joes is the reseller in the USA. But I do agree with with you....I also would like to spend a few days with him, just talking about pipes and to see him work!! :D
