I just picked up an estate Savinelli, not sure how old it is or what this particular model usually goes for.

If anyone can figure it out from the following link, please let me know.

Also wondering how long it takes before a newbie gets to post pics on this forum?

Thanks in advance,

DQ

New a 4 would go from $250.00 - 300+.

I've picked up Estate Autographs for around the price you paid and felt it was a good deal.

A $60 Autograph, particularly in that smooth finish is a real nice deal. I'm not a fan of filter pipes, but I think you can buy an adapter to remove that if you chose. I've only held (and restored for a friend) one Autograph and I was very impressed and have been watching them daily on Ebay, waiting for a deal like you found! Autographs come in number grades. For $300 Euro, that one is probably a lower grade but will smoke just as nice as the upper end. Enjoy that one!

Anytime you can pick up an Autograph of any grade for under $100, you're doing pretty well. Considering that this gentleman sold it on craigslist rather than ebay, and that he doesn't seem to know much about pipes, he did OK to get $60 for it. It's a win-win, I'd say. Congratulations!

Thanks for the info guys!

Is there a way of figuring its age?

I was really surprised at how great a shape it was in. The bowl was barely smoked, the cake was very little and looked like it was smoked maybe at 10 times or so.

There really isn't a big pipe smoking culture here in Vancouver. I just got lucky by stumbling across it n CL.

Savinelli used vulcanite for Autograph stems up to 1982, when they switched to acrylic and a filter stem. I'm not sure there is a way to identify the age beyond that.

I had an older Autograph from the 70's that had a vulcanite stem and it was a fine smoker. Like said above, 60 bucks for one is a steal. I have owned a few Sav's that were 6mm and I just smoked them without the filter or adapter and liked the way they smoked. Congrats on what is sure to be not your last Autograph. I think that for under 100.00 they represent one of the best values on the estate market.
