Thanks Skip! I know what you mean...I think having the foresight to collect cool pipes that you really like, but also appreciate in value is the name of the game. Even if you don't plan on selling any, just knowing that you spent well and bought pipes that bring you pleasure is a good feeling. The fact that you could turn around and make a profit is an added bonus, as I see it. Those new pipes of yours will definitely make a smoker proud and happy, and probably retain or increase in value too. I certainly don't think one should just buy pipes on value or brand name status alone, because you couldn't possibly get as much enjoyment out of it as you would with a pipe that you really like. I try not to dwell on value too much, but if a pipe were to increase in monetary value, hopefully it would be an indication of a rise in appreciation for that pipe carver's ability and expertise, and not simply a fad or trend.
