I've done this before with boxes of cigars...but today I was cleaning out the bottom of one of the chests here and found this cool looking carved wood box I had long ago. When I opened it I found three Zippo inserts (the original kind - so now I can send the lighters in and get free pipe inserts for 'em!) - AND - 3 Pipes!!! These were purchases LONG ago and I really thought I had sold them off. There's a big round bowled rustic Nording, and a cool little smooth Stanwell horn, and a project pipe. I'll spend a little time cleaning them up and post a photo either this evening or tomorrow. WOW! Cool!!!

I also found a pouch of tobacco that's still moist...thinkin' it's likely ERR, given the aroma. Maybe I'll try it out to see.

That's one of the nice things about being our age and having smoked for so long, those "surprises" we can come across in our domiciles :p Looking forward to seeing what you found !

Pics or it didn't happen... and don't forget if the Stannie has reg #'s its a bob by law that you sell it to me for pennies on the dollar.

It's not up for consideration.. It's BoB bylaw... it even says it's not up for consideration.

#342652 All Stanwell Reg# ERA must be offered to Puros_Bran at pennies on the dollar. This rule applies to pipes in collection or aquired. This is not up for consideration.

You probably just clicked "I accept these terms" and joined without reading them huh...

Damn, good find BH. Wish I had a drawer that spawned pipes and tobacco randomly.

OK - since you guys were so rabid to pics here are three. My wife is out of town til tonight and has the real camera, so these are cell phone photos, emailed to myself. I tried to adjust 'em a bit so they looked more like the real items.

The Nording is stamped "Made in Denmark / Hand Made by Eric Nording" on the center bottom of the shank.

The Stanwell is stamped "126 / Stanwell / Made in Denmark / Legend". The right side is pretty much all straight grain, the left side is sort of a flame grain...or something. Looks very fine though.

Again...sorry for the photo quality. Not bad for a phone though.

I keep tearing my house apart, but I don't seem to find any surprises. (The half PBJ sandwich/fossil on the workbench doesn't count).

There's nothing more fun that digging through old boxes of crap that you've had for years, then finding an item and saying "Cool, I always wanted one of these!"

Of course who knows how long it's actually been there. Happens to me with electronic parts.

In a box somewhere back home in PA., I have 3 Ed Burak Pipes (Connoisseur Pipe), 2 Dunhills_1 a Patent Shell and the other a rootbriar from 1966, Several Petersons, 1 or 2 Charatans, a Comoy and the first pipe I ever bought a GBD Bent. I know sooner then later I will be reunited with these treasures of years ago. But like King Baby, I want--what I want---NOW!!!! :lol!:
