I have a small pot. I think a large part of the line are small bowl pipes. But they are well made and very light. No complaints here.

Here is my Sebastien Beo received from SmokingPipes last month. The engineering is great, and I love the shape. It's a faceted bulldog. As you can see, I photographed it with a US dime for scale. It is very small. Perfect for a quickie. I'm still breaking it in using Granger & PA. In fact very late last night I was having such a nice smoke I didn't want to put it down even though it was 2pm and I really needed to get to bed.

My only complaint is with the finish. The varnish used was laid on so thin that 75% of it is already gone. Personally I am not a fan of heavily varnished pipes anyway, but that's not the point here. If you are going to varnish it then do it right or not at all.

I am going to reserve judgement regarding if it was worth the $85. That is very much in the upper tier of what I am willing to pay for a pocket pipe. Who knows though..? This thing may turn out to be a great little friend.

Could it be that what you see wearing off is simply carnauba wax? I've had a couple of savinellis that have done the same thing.

You know, I think you are right. I just ran my fingernail over one of the few remaining shinny parts which resulted in a pinkish waxen substance coming off. If it were varnish it either would not have come off at all, or would have flaked off.

I'll just hit it with some pipe wax from Walker Briar Works.

Thanks for setting me straight.
