So, the new Sherlock premiered last night. Any thoughts?
Yea, I got the feeling they were trying to hard. So a disappointment for me. :tongue:monbla256":0hf8htm9 said:'fraid I'll take basil Rathbone any day  Was some nice pipe smoking throughout though, but the rest was a bit to disjointed for me. JMHO

I agree with your first and third comments, but not the second. Only when we see Holmes get out of the carriage at the start of the movie is any pipe actually lit. Every other time, there's no smoke coming from a bowl. The pipes were character props.monbla256":00lwtksj said:'fraid I'll take basil Rathbone any day  Was some nice pipe smoking throughout though, but the rest was a bit to disjointed for me. Brett's my favorite, and closest to the Canon. Luther was great, ah..lovely Alice.DrumsAndBeer":3yf42bo0 said:I dug the 1st season, but just couldn't sink my teeth into the second. Hence no reason to attempt watching the 3rd. Still love the Jeremy Brett Sherlock best.
Some other detective shows, "Luther" is great, and so is "The Fall."
